What has been your military spouse career/entrepreneur journey so far?

I have been Life Coaching and writing non-fiction for 20 years, 2 years ago I started writing fiction, doing narrative therapy, and working with clients who've had childhood trauma.

Tell us about yourself.

I'm Krista Wells. I enjoy tennis, skiing, and have worked with military spouses for the last 20 years. I have four teenagers and write murder novels as a creative outlet.

Tell us about a "typical" day in your professional life.

Drop kids at high school, pick up groceries, see a life coaching client or two on Zoom, write a chapter, take a Pilates class, pray I turned the crock pot on, binge watch a show.

What has been your biggest military spouse career struggle and how did you overcome it?

My spouse was in reserves so when he was deployed I had less support.

What role did mentors and sponsors play in your journey?

Other military spouse entrepreneurs helped me a lot.

How does your career path differ from what you imagined for yourself?

I thought I'd work 10-3 while my kids are in school but my life coaching clients work so I work evenings and Saturdays.

How did military life (PCSing, deployments, trainings, etc) factor into your career decisions?

N/A

Have you ever had to geo-bach due to your career/entrepreneurship?

We did that one year so I could keep my job. I say you do you.

What resources have you found to be useful in your career/entrepreneur journey?

NMSN

Final word: what are your top tips for other military spouses about navigating a career within the military lifestyle?

Take advantage of the virtual job market that was less accessible 20 years ago
