Excellent Apps for Entrepreneurs by Tiffany Silverberg

As a freelance writer and a bit of a techie geek, I need tools that help me keep my business and life in order. When I bought my iPad, I downloaded many apps that promised to simplify my business. Most didn't deliver. Why? They had their own style of organization and a busy interface that just gave me another chore. I couldn't stuff my own business style into their design. I need apps that mold to my independent lifestyle. Here are some of my favorites that are great for any entrepreneur!

OmmWriter -- Whether your job involves writing or you just need a place to brainstorm, this app is frankly mesmerizing. With a clean interface and mesmerizing sounds, your mind is free to explore its own thoughts. ($4.99 on iTunes)

TrunkNotes -- This app is the ultimate list maker. With basically no interface, you can build links and lists within each other and map out your business, ideas, clients, and to-dos in nearly any way you need. It uses a Wiki-type system. Lots of directions to help navigate. It also syncs among devices. ($3.99 on iTunes)

MiniBooks for FreshBooks -- Admittedly, I haven't tried this app yet, but I've been using FreshBooks for a while now to invoice my clients and I'm very happy with their service. Easy for clients to pay in various methods. Get your invoices out on the go. ($14.99 on iTunes)

OmniFocus -- When it comes to organizing my projects, OmniFocus does the job in two ways -- keeping actions or tasks under each client or other relevant folder and reminding me when it's due. Very easy to see which projects are coming due soon. Syncs with iCal, Mac computers and mobile servers and will send alerts. The only down side, it's super expensive. ($79.99 on iTunes)

Chimpadeedoo -- If you use MailChimp for your newsletters, this app will make your networking and events very swanky. Potential customers and contacts can sign up for your newsletter on your iPad. If you don't have wi-fi at the time, the app saves the sign-ups and syncs them later. (Free on iTunes)
